
Stan Deakin, CFA, ASA - Director
Stan Deakin brings valuation leadership to BEACo’s client service team. Over his appraisal career, Stan has valued a wide array of businesses and business interests ranging in sales from less than $100,000, including pre-revenue startups, to more than $3 billion.
Mr. Deakin is well experienced in valuing interests in publicly traded as well as privately held companies. Such diversity in assignments allows him to serve the firm’s clients and businesses of all sizes and industries, whether publicly held or private.
Stan is a Chartered Financial Analyst ("CFA") charterholder and member of the CFA Institute and the CFA Society of Los Angeles. Stan is also an Accredited Senior Appraiser ("ASA") in business valuation, member of the American Society of Appraisers, and a past president of ASA’s Los Angeles Chapter.
During the past four decades, he has applied his business valuation expertise to a wide variety of assignments, including estate and gift tax matters, litigation support including marital dissolutions and corporation dissolutions, employee stock ownership plans, financial reporting, allocation of purchase price, C-to-S corporation conversions, fairness opinions, goodwill loss or impairment, M&A matters, and buy-sell situations.

Stan brings to BEACo’s clients an education background, rich experience, and continuously updated knowledge base. These ingredients lend his work the professional credibility that is essential for all valuation assignments.
Stan has extensive experience with engagements involving valuation discount opinions. Matters have involved litigation support and buy-sell agreement matters, among other client services. Stan is frequently called upon as an expert witness in litigated matters. He has testified in numerous cases, including arbitrated matters and cases before California’s Superior Courts and Federal District Courts.
He earned his BA in Mathematics from Colgate University and his MBA in Finance from Portland State University. He has also attended and conducted many professional courses and seminars relating to valuation of businesses, business interests, and intangible assets on behalf of leading organizations.
Stan’s business valuation career began at Willamette Management Associates ("WMA"), working with Shannon Pratt, CFA, FASA, a leading author and authority in the field of business valuation. As Vice President of WMA, he managed diverse projects and services, including valuing business interests in closely held and publicly traded companies, preparing investment research reports on publicly traded companies, and editing investment research publications.
During the 1980s, Stan joined Arthur Andersen, CPAs, where he became a principal of that firm. Before that, he moved to California and worked with BEACo’s valuation service team. Between 2000 and 2018, he headed Mosaic Capital’s valuation practice before rejoining long-time fellow business valuation analysts at BEACo.
